The Obstetric Fistula Cases Affecting Women of Childbearing Age in Keysaney and Deynile Hospitals in Mogadishu, Somalia
This hospital-based study, conducted between late 2021 and early 2022, investigated the prevalence and risk factors of obstetric fistula (OF) among women of reproductive age attending Keysaney and Deynile hospitals in Mogadishu. The research found that OF remains a significant public health issue in Somalia, with contributing factors including prolonged obstructed labor, lack of skilled birth attendants, and limited access to emergency obstetric care. The study emphasizes the need for comprehensive strategies to prevent and manage OF, including improving maternal healthcare services, enhancing the skills of healthcare providers, and increasing public awareness about the condition.
